California adoptive couple without child, biological dad charged

Conceiving a child simply isn't in the cards for some people. Medical tests may confirm that an individual is infertile, a single adult may want a child alone or a same-sex couple may not be able to biologically have a child. For many, being unable to have kids doesn't get rid of the desire to love a child as their own. In these situations many people turn towards the process of adoption for a solution.

Sadly, there are those out there who prey on this desire to have a child. Individuals or couples who want to adopt should protect themselves from problematic adoptions or even outright scams by seeking experienced legal representation. A couple in California recently had their hearts broken and found themselves in a complicated legal dispute when the couple whose baby they were set to adopt changed their minds.

This wasn't just a case of a change of heart. The prospective adoptive parents had spent over $20,000 and even moved the biological parents to California to facilitate the adoption of the child. According to the adoptive parents, the move was done upon pressure from the biological parents. When the biological parents backed out, the couple went to the police. Charges were even filed against the biological father.

The biological parents -- a man and his girlfriend -- said that it was the adoptive parents who simply showered them with money. He said that none of it was given upon request from the biological parents, but instead voluntarily offered.
