How a postnuptial agreement can save your marriage

No one goes into a marriage thinking that it will some day end in divorce. That's why signing a prenuptial agreement can seem like the least romantic thing in the world when you're both madly in love with one another. But after a few years of marriage, your young love can turn into a more mature understanding of each other as individuals with your own hopes, dreams and financial habits. As both grow as people, sometimes those little things can become magnified and lead to spats and blow ups. Those spats and blow ups turn chilly and, before you know it, you're arguing about everything ? or worse ? not talking at all.

It might sound like a recipe for divorce, but it doesn't have to spell disaster. More and more couples are opting for what's called a postnuptial agreement. With a postnup, couples sit down with an attorney or two and work through things like who is responsible for debt, who owns the house and even how many times the in-laws can visit or how many girls? night outs she can have. The mere act of getting together and talking about these festering issues can be the difference between a long, healthy marriage and one that ends in divorce.

Just remember that it's never too late to try to save the marriage. An attorney in California can sit down with you as a couple, listen to your issues and help you work out the details of a postnuptial agreement.
