Judge rules in Usher's favor concerning child custody

California residents might be interested to hear that a judge ruled in Usher's favor concerning temporary custody of his two sons. The sons' mother had reportedly filed for emergency custody after one of the sons was involved in a swimming pool accident while in Usher's care. The boy's aunt was reportedly watching him when the accident occurred.

Usher's ex-wife stated that she was not comfortable with her sons being in the care of their aunt because she didn't think the aunt was capable of aptly caring for her children. However, the Fulton County Superior Court judge stated that he didn't think any other person could have done any better in the situation than the boys' aunt did. Furthermore, he ruled that the situation did not warrant an emergency or crisis situation in which Usher's children should be removed from his custody. As of now, child custody still resides with Usher.

Usher's ex-wife also went on to testify that Usher never informs her of his whereabouts or of changes to their caregivers. The judge ordered Usher to keep his ex-wife informed of such matters. Usher stated that he did send her weekly emails concerning the children's activities and informed her of travel plans, doctors' visits and other such matters.

Usher has had primary custody of their two children ever since their bitter divorce battle in 2012. However, his ex-wife has filed for a custody modification, but the case was not heard yet as of this emergency custody motion. A family law attorney may be of help to those parents who are seeking modification to their child custody orders. A family law attorney might be able to help them prove to the court that awarding them custody would be in the best interests of the children.
